a possible solution is to put the dp transmitter output (0 - 5VDC) on a 5 digit indicator and scale for kPa (to yield xx.xx kPA, so I pick up one more digit of resolution)

probably a lot easier to shift the decimal point on the indicator
(and I'm partial to easy)

sure would be nice to have a DAQ card and LabVIEW

Sounds like a good idea, and this method will be a good sanity
check on the data. :D

I think you could "simulate" having additional digits of resolution
by taking a lot more readings at the lowest flow rate. The
distribution and standard deviation of these readings may point
to what you could expect with additional resolution.
OTOH, if it's easy to just make the change, go for it. :)
