Their current specs is:

CPU: 10600k
RAM: 16GB
Motherboard: MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi
GPU: GTX 1080ti
PSU: Gamma II Series 750 Watt 80+ Gold

The games they mainly play are fps games that are heavily dependent on GPU/CPU.

They play at 1080p @ 144hz.

Their budget seems to be about $2,000.

Any advice would be appreciated.

👋🏻

GPU, 4080/4080 super/7900xtx/cheapest 4090 you can find, or wait to see if the new gen of AMD GPUs is worth the price/performance. If you got money left over switch the CPU for a 11700k, you'll be sorted for a few more years until you need a full gen upgrade 👍🏻

Without changing the system....

11900k, 32gb of ram, and 4070 super/7900XT (or greater) would be my route for 1080p/144+.

I've also never heard of that power supply. I hope it's a good brand.

Looking at those specs, I personally would look at the video card only and call it good. Anything more is icing on the cake.

For the most part, I agree.

While I'm sure it's 'fine', a 6c/12t CPU is the MINIMUM I'd build with today, so that felt 'lacking' a bit, especially at a CPU-bound resolution of 1080p where more Hz and c/t will help now.

16GB of RAM I also find to be the bare minimum for a build today. I find myself going past 16GB these days with just a few programs open and a game.

He's got a beefy budget, so...........why not.

Really, with $2K, he can build from scratch... new CPU, DDR5, and GPU for 1080p high Hz gaming easily too.
